Welcome to Santorini! After a 45 minute hop from Athens, we're on final approach.
We drive down to the southwestern point, after picking up a little rental we'll have for a couple days.
Then down to the beach...
Volcanic sourced shore pebble - too bad we can't carry it on our backs for several more months.
Hangin' on the beach, while we wait till we can check in to lodging.
Good time to check out a couple of local wineries - the local grapes and people create some decent dry whites.
Dinner in our tiny little cliff hugging seaborne village.
Our lodging is in the top center of that white building in the center of the photo below, and we park around the corner at the extreme left.
A rare sailboat sight seeing cruise - for there's actually canvas hoisted aloft catching some breeze.
"Pirates" departing, after looting some island peace from the cliff top villages. Okay, the crowds weren't so bad.
It's like the best boat show there can be, as seen from our lodging balcony.
We walked out for a good view of sunset. See the romantic dinner seating at the water's edge; only this end of the tiny village has a view of sunset this time of year. Of course, the "ritziest" restaurants occupy this real estate.
Boats gather to see the setting sun.
Ahhhhh....
The village of Oia at the cliff tops above our village.
Last gasp of the Sun for May 17, 2022, for ever more, seen from this perch.
The night life of Ammoudi Port - mainly late diners and cocktail sippers.
