We traveled around France from 13 March - 30 April 2018. Last year when we traveled to Europe, we took advantage of "Space A" where we flew for free aboard a military flight. It worked out very well and we planned on trying to fly Space A to France this year. When I was doing research I was able to find a commercial round-trip flight from New York City to Paris for under $1000 for the both of us. This is a price I couldn't say no to, so we are booked.
On 1 March we left Florida to drive up to Tim's mom's house in Collins, Ohio then took Amtrak from Sandusky, Ohio to NYC where we spent 2 nights in the city eating Chinese food, pizza, bagels, and black and white cookies. We then flew out of JFK on 12 March and arrive in Paris on 13 March.
We spent the first week in Paris and then we rented a car and drove around France taking in as much as we can in the 48 days we were there.
Here are some of our thoughts and considerations while planning this trip:

Here are some of our thoughts and considerations while planning this trip:
- TIME DURATION: We will only be traveling overseas for about 6 weeks this year instead of our typical 3-4 months. We have decided to spend this summer bicycling around the mid-west which will culminate in RAGBRAI, an annual week-long bicycle ride across Iowa.
- SAFETY: Is there a chance of a terrorist attack while we are visiting France. Yes, but that is not going to stop us from living our lives. There is a chance of bad things happening to us wherever we may travel. From our traveling experience, our biggest concern on traveling around France is pick-pocketing. We will focus on keeping our personal belongings safe while there.
