We will be traveling around Asia from 10 April - 1 September 2023.
Here is a list of the countries we plan on visiting:
- Malaysia
- Singapore
- Japan
- South Korea
- Taiwan (Tentative)
- Bali
Something a bit different in our travels this time is that we will be traveling with good friends of ours, Peter and Susan Lam. We first met Peter and Susan when we stayed with them in Vancouver after finishing the Pacific Crest Trail hike in 2016. Since then, they had revisited them and they have visited us a couple of times when we were staying in a beach condo on Okaloosa Island, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. They visited us this past winter at the beach and mentioned that they were going to travel to Malaysia (Susan's home country) this Spring and asked us to join them. Of course we had to say yes. Then the trip to Malaysia grew to visiting Singapore (where Susan's brother lives) and Japan (where Peter's son lives).
So, we will be traveling with Peter and Susan until they have to fly back to Vancouver on 4 July. After that, Tim and I plan to continue traveling more in Japan. We then plan on taking a ferry from Japan to South Korea. Then, if time allows, we may visit Taiwan on our way to Bali. TRANSPORTATION THERE: We will fly from Cleveland, Ohio on 10 April, and arrive in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 28 hours later! This will be quite the flight with 2 connections in Chicago and Doha. Hopefully we will be able to get some sleep on the flights and be ready to go when we arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 8:30 in the morning. By the way, the one-way flight from Cleveland to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia cost $645 each. Since Peter and Susan have a stricter schedule, we also bought our plane ticket from Singapore to Tokyo, Japan for $207 each. TRANSPORTATION BACK: We are planning on booking an Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver, Canada around 2 September 2023, so we will fly back sometime towards the end of August. As usually, we have not bought a ticket back so we can be flexible during our travel. |
