Port St Joe - Panacea, FL
I woke up and got out of the tent to a beautiful scene on the water. It rained with thunderstorms throughout the night, but it had stopped now and the forecast indicated that the rain should stay away until afternoon. It wasn’t any fun packing the tent away when it was soaking wet, but we are camping tonight so we can air it our when we get to the RV park tonight. Right on time, at 9 AM, we were all ready to ride.
We walked our bicycles out to the road since the grounds of the RV park is just sand. We got on our bicycles and about 2 minutes later the sky opened up and it started raining. OY! It did stop after a few minutes and we dried out and felt like we were in the clear. then, about 10 minutes later, there was rumbling in the sky and it opened up again. This time we could tell that it wasn’t going to let up and time soon…so much for the forecast.

There wasn’t a gas station till around mile 19. We would usually make a roadside stop around mile 15, but not in the rain. We made it to the gas station soaking wet and hung out there for a while until the rain stopped and we got back on the road. We rode through Apalachicola and over the bridge to Eastpoint.
Tim and I were passing a seafood restaurant and I decided it would be nice to stop for a sandwich. The others didn’t feel like stoping so they went ahead as Tim and I went in. After being seated and looking at the menu we decided it didn’t look too good, so we got back on the bicycles and continued on. About 1 mile further, with Tim in front of me, I spited a brewery and yelled at Tim to stop. He looked back and continued. I then yelled, “Tim, brewery,” which made it stop and turn around.
Eastpoint Brewery has only been opened for 3 months. They only had 3 beers on tap because with spring break, they have been selling a lot of beer. I guess it is a good problem to have.

After drinking the flight, we were back on the rainy road. As we were approaching Carrabelle, FL I received a text saying that the group stopped at Two Brothers seafood restaurant. We were about 1/2 mile away, so it was good timing. We stopped, and since everyone just ordered, we were able to order a grouper sandwich and a couple of beers. We tried to delay leaving since it was raining, but the restaurant was closing so we went outside. We all stood under the awning wishing we didn’t have to ride in this rain.
Tim and I took the plunge and headed out first. It was raining and it was chilly, but we only had 25 miles to ride to get to the RV park. The rain finally stopped about 10 miles out and we had a pleasant ride in to the RV park with a tailwind. Of course, when we went to set up our tent, the rain started up again, but we managed to get it up and keep our stuff dry.
After showers it was decided that we would go our to dinner at the seafood restaurant across the street. Since there wasn’t much for Mel to eat, her and Bill stayed behind as the rest of us walked to dinner. The food was OK, but it was a fun night out. After dinner we got back to the park and went to the tent. I played with my phone some and then went to sleep without blogging. Tomorrow is a zero day, so I can do it tomorrow, which is today.
