Hotel breakfast in Hakodate - some good selections.
TSA or the Three Squid Amigos...
We climb Mt. Hakodate at the southwestern tip of the metro area (map is shown flipped).
More decisions - lots of ways up (from the red rectangle at lower right) - we go up "K" (green).
Ravens as large as children, hmmmm, we'll be on the lookout...
...oh, crap, there's one now sitting on a very large tree.
There's our goal in sight...
We made it - but, those others, that's cheating.............yourself out of a good workout.
There's Hakodate...it looks like a giant squid from here!
"You wish!"
"Someday, all of this will be mine!"
Going back down now - lots of big trees to behold.
We didn't take the gondola down either (this time) - this is proof! :-D
Lot's of people were passing by here taking photos - it's like a straightened out Lombard Street of San Fran...
Holy crap - there's a brewery here!
Near the waterfront on the harbor - nice reuse of 100 yr-old warehouses - a lot of shopping can be had here.
Lucky Pierrot is a local fast food restaurant chain - burgers/fries and American 50's music.
Towards sunset and our hotel, the big Hakodate festival parade is on!
The Kimono Boys are going to get a good spot, helped safely across by the Legomen.
1,000 kilos on your shoulders and a couple ladies on top...
The route here is along the electric tram tracks, temporarily closed of course, but revelers took this old beauty down the route anyways.
U.S Army troops up from Camp Zama (near Tokyo) on a goodwill visit.
The Baaaaan "Krewe" is here tonight - yeah, some of this reminds us of Mardi Gras in the Deep South.
Here are more electric trams - presumably created out of old "parts" - also operating on the actual tracks and overhead wires.
Everybody in the "pool", er street, let's all do the squid dance!
