I woke up today around 7:30 AM....woohoo...I seem to have finally gotten over the jet lag after 7 days. Now that I had a good night sleep, it is time for breakfast. We knew that we would have trouble finding something opened because it is Ramadan, but we found a place online that seemed that it would be opened, so we headed that direction.
During the way, we past many places that looked like it would have been a great place for breakfast, but it was a ghost town.

And, unfortunately, the place we were headed to was like a ghost town as well.
We knew what our solution was, and new that we should have just headed there in the first place...Chinatown. Many of the Chinese are Buddhist, so we know that we can get food there. Google said it was a 20 minute walk to get there, but since we have already walked 20 minutes and we were hungry, we decided to order a Grab (Uber). 15 minutes later and only 4 MYR => $0.90 USD poorer, we arrived in Chinatown.
Tim, right away, spotted an air-conditioned restaurant right were the Grab dropped us off. It was a great choice. Tim got pork with rice and egg, and I got fish curry noodle soup. I liked mine, Tim...not so much. With beverages, the total cost was MYR 36 => $8 USD.
After breakfast, or maybe it was lunch by now since it took us time to find food, we set out for a walk around Kuala Terengganu's Chinatown.
There is a waterfront here that they are in the process of improving for recreational use. It definitely has potential.

We continued walking in the heat and decided to pop into this air-conditioned lobby for a cool-down. They were more than welcoming and let us relax as long as we needed.
This is pretty cool. Many of the small alleyways are covered with murals. They were all very good. Below, Tim is studying "The New Seven Wonders of the World" mural. Of the seven, we have only been to one...the Colosseum in Rome. I guess we still have a lot of traveling to do.
After looking at the murals, Susan declared that she wanted Cendol. She asked in a coffee shop where she can get it and they suggested a place called "On the Way" which was actually back the way we came from. So, we turned back for a few blocks and found the place. We ordered what Susan ordered and out came this. Cedol is shaved ice topped with coconut milk and palm sugar. This version also had green squiggly jelly, black jelly, red beans, and creamed corn. OK...quite odd with the beans and corn, but weirdly, to me, the corn was the best part.
After dessert we decided to head back to the apartment for a bit of a siesta. We did stopped at a shop in Chinatown to pick up some snacks knowing that there will not be any restaurants opened by the apartment. We ordered a Grab and actually had them drop us off at a food market that was opened to grab some more food for breakfast and snacks.
Back at the apartment we watched some YouTube, blogged, and snacked. The plan was to wait until 7 PM to go out and find something to eat. Peter and Susan decided to stay in and make something, but Tim and I ventured out grab some takeaway from the market we walked through last night. Tim found shawarma and I had skewered fish balls and vegetable patties from this vendor:

We took our found food back to the apartment and enjoyed dinner while watching a movie on Netflix (Chupa). After laundry and some more YouTube it was time for bed. Tomorrow we drive to Kota Bharu and make some stops along the way...until then,,,
