Kuala Lumpur (Day 3)

Today we follow on online walking tour of Little India.  The start of the tour is 2 miles away, so we ordered a Grab and arrived at the starting point (KL Sentral Bus Station) about 30 minutes later.  After walking through the station and then an attached mall, we went outside and then found Little India.  This area is also known as Brickfields.  This is where a brick industry was established in the 1880's when it because requirement that all buildings in the area be made of brick due to fires and flooding.

And there is The Merdeka 118 in the background of Little India.

We wandered around and found many different temples in the area.  Here is Maha Vhara Buddhist Temple founded 1894.

Across the street from Maha Vhara Buddhist Temple is a traditional wooden Malay house.

More walking took us past Sri Kandaswamy Temple, built in 1902.  There was a sign that women had to have their knees covered to enter, so I couldn't go in, but the outside was pretty elaborate.

I love these photos of older buildings with new buildings in the background.

It was so hot and we were hungry.  I wanted to find an Indian Restaurant for lunch, but Tim doesn't love Indian, so we went back to the mall and went to the food court.  The best looking food was Japanese, so we got that...it wasn't the best, but made us really look forward to the Japan portion of this trip.

We then took a Grab to the only brewery in Kuala Lumpur, Modern Madness.

The beer was pretty good, but there was no food and no air conditioning, just fans.  So, we drank the flight and decided to go.  Just when we were leaving a couple from North Carolina came in. We wound up talking and then having some more beer and then talking some more.  They relocated here 6 months ago for a 2-year work assignment with a British Tobacco Company.  It is now after 8 PM and we are starving.  We opted for some rice triangles and shared an egg and crab stick sandwich at the 7 Eleven before ordering a Grab back to the apartment.
Picture
We arrived back to the apartment just after 9 PM.  Oh...this is pretty funny.  Our rental is on floor 33A, not 34 because the number 4 is an unlucky number because it sounds like the word for death.  Therefore, there is no number 4 in any apartment number.
Picture
Back in the apartment, some TV, and then to bed.  We do not have anything panned for tomorrow, so we will sleep in and see what comes of it.  Until then...

I like the traditional wooden Malay house very much, would be great in a garden setting, without big modern buildings surrounding it!
