Mr. Lee is going to drive us to the ferry terminal at 11 AM, so we had time to sleep in, pack our bags, and go out for breakfast. Tim really enjoyed his Sweet & Sour Chicken yesterday, so he wanted it again today. Instead of getting the same thing I ordered yesterday, today I ordered Shrimp Noodle Bowl...so good.
After breakfast, Mr, Lee took us to the ferry terminal and we were on board by 11:30 AM for the 15 minute ride to the mainland.
We have about a 2 hour drive to our hotel in Kuala Selangor. As I looked at the route I noticed something called "Paddy Gallery" not far off the route. We decided to check it out.
For 5 MYR => $1.13 USD, we got a tour of a small rice processing plant. We first watched a 6 minute video about how rice is planted, harvested, and processed. Then we got a short tour of the production floor and a lesson on rice. We learned that the average Malaysian diet consists of 60% rice. Malaysia produces only 80% of the needed rice for the country, so they have to import 20%. Malaysia does not export any rice.
It was interesting and definitely worth the stop. Our admission also included a small package of rice that they made right here.
After the tour, we went outside to take some photos of the rice fields.
We were only 30 minutes from our hotel, but it was time to eat lunch. Tim got steamed shrimp and I ordered Kung Pao Squid. Both were very good.
After lunch we drove the 30 minutes and checked into the hotel. Tim and I relaxed in the room until around 7:45 PM when we decided to walk to the night market the front desk clerk told us about. We ate a pretty big lunch so only wanted a snack. Tim found some chicken satay and I found this:
It is called Vegetable Salad Seaweed Popiah (Pancake). It was pretty good.
We continued walking towards the water where there are seafood restaurants, boat jetties for multiple tours, and a village of houses on stilts such as this one.

We got to the end of the road and turned back. We decided to stop back at the night market to find something sweet to eat. We chose Bubble Waffle with half chocolate and half kaya.
The Bubble Waffle tasted great. It was a good choice. After eating it we walked back to the hotel to watch some TV and blog. There is actually an English language channel on the TV which is quite rare.
Tomorrow we do some fun touristy things here in Kuala Selangor. Until then...
