We start the walking tour of old Tallinn back at Fat Margaret, which peeks around the grove of trees,...
...and enter through the town's defenses via the big gate.
Fortunately the skies are still quite nice for walking and taking photos. Now on Pikk Street (Long Street) - the medieval merchant's main drag that leads from the harbor into town. The three buildings below right are the "Three Sisters" - examples of a home/warehouse/office from the 1400s.

At the Russian Embassy, a silent protest speaks volumes...
The view of the square from inside an old and preserved pharmacy - with modern products amongst the drug stuff of old.
The 15th century Town Hall on the square...
A pillory for punishing bad behavior (all is behaved today), and rooftop ornaments, both on the town hall.
And there's the "furniture" again on the square we saw yesterday...
...too inviting to pass on.
...um, where to next? ...the seagull squaks out "that a ways!"...
...but first, need to try this weiner-bench!.
Statue of Jaan Kross - "He was one of those who kept fresh the spirits of the people and made us ready to take the opportunity of restoring Estonia's independence."
Rick Steves' "This 13th century Gothic church-turned-art-museum served the German merchants and knights from the neighborhood in the 1500s. On March 9, 1944, while the whole city was in German hands, Soviet aerial forces bombed the city, and the church and surrounding area - once a charming district, dense with medieval buildings - were burned out to shells; only the the church was rebuilt."
The tour continues to the heights area of the city, or Upper Town (Toompea)..
Alexander Nevsky Cathedral - a Russian Orthodox kind of place - from 1900:
More original remains of the town's defensive walls...
We zig and zag around the area, and getting more views of the Russian cathedral...
...and there that thing is again, but with older school kids being paraded into it at this particular moment.
Views of Lower Town from Upper Town...
A pigeon puts in his two pence "you may get what you can from the guidebook, but let me tell you more...".
