To start the day, Gerri and Barbra head out for a 5-mile hike immediately adjacent to the east of Stockholm (Tim stays home to blog and chill).
"Djurgården is part of the Royal National Park and one of the favorite places to walk in the city of Stockholm. You pass many interesting houses, meadows with oaks and other deciduous trees. Combine the walk with a visit to a museum or coffee along the way."

The hike begins and ends at a metro stop just across from the ABBA museum. We passed on the museum, but it's a must for ABBA fanatics.
The hike is complete...
Other ferry boats come and go all around us - going near and some are going far far out.
A couple of Moai are watching over all the proceedings...
A couple nice mini-trawlers motor on past...
Other scenery is firmly attached to the firmament...
An old wooden sailing racer, and an interesting new building come into view...
Our 1-hour ferry ride is coming to an end - it's just as well with a bit of rain falling nearby and then chasing us into the cabin a few minutes later.
Stockholm harbor is definitely a busy port city - boats large (a ship) and small (a boat) are on the go all around us.
Back on ashore, we stroll past a theater, as we start our Modern City walk...
Molins fontän in Kungsträdgården
This beast is tame...
Now seeing some of that truly modern stuff...
"Except for the Peace Prize, the Nobel Prizes are presented in Stockholm at the annual Prize Award Ceremony on 10 December, the anniversary of Nobel's death. The Peace Prize is presented at the annual Prize Award Ceremony in Oslo, Norway. The Prizes awarded in Sweden's ceremonies are held at the Stockholm Concert Hall, with the Nobel banquet following immediately at Stockholm City Hall." |
We're here at the Concert Hall, and these two "jokers" exhibit what happens at the beginning of a Nobel Laureate's journey, the inception of an idea, which could culminate in an ultimate recognition - the awarding of a Nobel Prize in the building behind them.
Our last tour of the day is complete - we have only dinner to finish the day...
Gerri finds a dinner place - "Meatballs for the People" - we get to people watch for an hour waiting for a table.
Ah, dinner is served...let the Swedish meatball feasting begin!
