We take a laid back day today in Stockholm - tomorrow night our friend Barbra arrives from Colorado.
Another vintage car seen in Sweden - this time American Muscle.
"Gustaf Vasa Church was inaugurated in 1906 and named after 16th century King Gustav Vasa. Situated between two busy avenues lined with trees, its dome rises 60 metres (200 ft) above the nearby Odenplan plaza. The floor plan is in the shape of a Greek cross and seats 1,200 people, making it one of the largest churches in Stockholm." |
A high view from a bridge we must cross...

We're on the way to a "changing of the guard" ceremony.
"The Life Guards is a combined Swedish Army cavalry/infantry regiment. Its responsibilities include the defense of Stockholm as well as provision of the royal guard of honor for the King of Sweden and the Stockholm Palace. With traditions dating from 1521, the regiment is one of the oldest military units in continuous operational existence in the world. "
The venue is shown below for the "changing of the guard" ceremony we came to see.
We find our spot in anticipation of the start of the ceremony...
It begins...
The band is now here, on horse back, they play well and ride well at the same time...
The mounted cavalry make their appearance...
The cavalry dismounts in a synchronized way, the guard changing is well underway...
The new guard is here and ready to go, should the call come in...
The tourists run amuck in this particular place...
The subway here is situated in quite a carved out cavern.
Barbra arrives, we gather with new friends at their apartment (we met them some weeks ago in Tallinn Estonia) at the edge of Stockholm, enjoy and rate multiple beers, and eat a traditional Swedish festive meal.
