Before leaving Malmö, there's a giant windmill and a fortress castle to check out...
Onward to the castle fortress, there's a community tended garden along the way...
We roll onwards to Helsingborg to see a brewery with reportedly good beer and pizza...
The beer was excellent and the pizza as well. Moreover we met the pizza maker who's a USA guy originally from Midland Michigan who met a Swede girl and now here he is - he gave us the pizza for free!
We'd only expected to roll into town for the pizza and beer, it seems there's more to see here...
And there's a large medieval looking tower up the plaza rear facade and staircase...
"Kärnan is a medieval tower and is the only part remaining of a larger Danish fortress which, along with the fortress Kronborg on the opposite bank of the Øresund, controlled the entranceway between the Kattegat and the Øresund and further south, the Baltic Sea."
We're told there's a real Picasso in a park in Halmstad ...they appear to be correct!
...and then there's a bonus, a small tall ship nearby.
Varberg Fortress
"Varberg Fortress was built in 1287-1300 by Count Jacob Nielsen as protection against Eric VI of Denmark, who had declared him an outlaw after the murder of his father King Eric V of Denmark. Jacob had close connections with King Eric II of Norway and as a result got substantial Norwegian assistance with the construction. The fortress, as well as half the county, became Norwegian in 1305. In the fourteenth century the fortress was expanded to include a castle."
