Today Gerri hikes alone - Timmy's feet can't do 8 miles. These reindeer were seen in the camp last night, and now are seen on the short road walk to the trail head.
Here it is: 11.7 km = 7.3 miles (+0.7 miles to the trailhead from camp).
Another lovely Finnish rest stop - this one a fully enclosed cabin that could sleep 10-12 hikers.
...the view from inside the cabin...
From the cabin porch, I had to head up some steps to catch a trip across the river on that far bridge - see it? - suspended far above the raging river...
...now looking back towards the cabin - what an idyllic site!
This was a very busy trail today...
Again, sausages are enjoyed in the mid-day Sun...
These picture-postcard water places keep showing up past my right shoulder.
"You meet an old boat in the woods...what does she say?...I'm not a resting spot, I'm a boat!"
Another suspension bridge that looks like a hoot to cross...
But first, hey, there's a reindeer - and it's not on a road or in a housing or camping area - this is one is spotted in the wild.
Here we go! Okay, this one was so shaky with it's length, that no photos were possible from the center - yah, I held on with both hands the whole way.
And there it happens again, another water place over my right shoulder.
I'm no expert, but this sure looks like a Class V rapid for running this river.
Geocache!
Meanwhile Tim, in the process of driving the short stretch from last night's campground to the trailhead, overlooked the 4 foot ditch on the perimeter of the parking lot. Luckily he stopped it 1 foot down the slope, before any damage was done. But the camper couldn't haul itself out, not without a winching from the friendly neighborhood recovery truck guy.
The next assistance later on cost us nothing - following the follow-me car through road construction.
With all the swaying bridges and misbehaving camper vans, at least the day ends peacefully on a lake for a night of off-grid wild camping.
