Today it was supposed to be a rain out. We'd hoped to do a looping trek over hill and dale - actually a hiking tour of the Pink and Red Valleys, about a 30 minute drive to the trail head north of Mustafapasa. But with the expected rains, we thought we should just hang out in our cave and get some planning and blogging done. As it turned out, after the morning hours, any more rains coming didn't amount to much. But we got into a groove hanging out at "home", and never took advantage of the break with the weather.
So here are some photos for the evening hours of the day - starting with dinner on the town. It was a short 15-minute to our chosen spot - kinda funny we had to asked another restaurant where to find our hidden choice around the corner and up the alley slope.
It started with a nice salad and yogurt with mint bread spread. And they threw in lentil balls for free.
And then the entreés - pottery kebab - Gerri's was vegetarian and Tim's with Chicken - think stew in a pot, but the pots are single use as apparently in the cooking process the lid swells and needs to be broken off. It was all very tasty.
And now back to the "ranch" er "home" er lodging. We took to the rooftop to see any sunset, but the clouds had rolled back in by this time. It's still quite a view of an ancient village.
After darkness fell, we were treated to an unexpected bonus - lessons in playing traditional "Turkish bongo" drum music from our hosts. The drums are actually called Turkish Darbukas. And then later a French couple came back "home" and joined in. Our hosts had a whole mess of Darbukas to pass around.
