A Walk Behind Steinsdalsfossen and Arrival Bergen

Our view as we leave our little chalet on the mountain this morning...
Picture
Bridges and tunnels, tunnels and bridges...and twisty narrow roadways with no shoulder, but they do have deep ravines.

"Steinsdalsfossen is a waterfall in the village of Steine.  The waterfall is one of the most visited tourist sites in Norway. From the parking lot, a path goes along the waterfall, up a hill, and behind it where visitors can walk dryshod "into" the rumbling water.  Steinsdalsfossen is 46 metres (151 ft) high, with a main drop of 20 metres (66 ft), and has the greatest volume when the snow melts in May and June.  The waterfall was formed in 1699 when the river found a new race."

This waterfall is relatively accessible...

The waterfall also has a nice gift shop -- we only browsed.  Tim "I can make this work!"

"St Mary's Church -- The large, gray stone church was built in a long church design using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 240 people. The construction of the church is believed to have started in the 1130s or 1140s and completed around 1180, making this church the oldest building in Bergen. There have been a few fires that burned the church, as well as several renovations and reconstructions, most recently in 2013."

Old wooden warehouses and shops along the water front -- the first 3 are recreated, the rest are original.

At the dockside fish market, where they either sell you fresh seafood to take home, or cook it onsite.

They even have various Summer Sausages -- the whale is Minke, said to be a sustainable commodity.
